Color Technique: The Tense Awkward Moment

The Tense Awkward Moment is just what it sounds like. It’s that moment of shear awkward tension between individuals. Sometimes it’s more obvious than others, but it’s that moment that nobody can ignore. Whether it’s between just two people, or a whole group of people, it makes itself known. It’s that dead silence of a room, the drop off of conversation, or that transitional lull. While the viewer goes through the portfolio the images are sequenced in a way that gives you a rollercoaster of tense and awkward. Some are full of tension while some are incredibly awkward. The use of color in my portfolio aids in directing the viewer’s feel for the moment, either to be tenser and less awkward, or more awkward and less tense. I tried to use different times of day, environmental settings, and the use of different lights to guide me through this process
